Bullets, who lost to Silver last Wednesday in a Fisd Challenge Cup last 16 match, started brightly as they sought revenge.

Diverson Mlozi fluffed a golden opportunity nine minutes into the game. He deceptively evaded Silver defender Lucky Malata to meet a Henry Kabichi cross, but unbelievably shot wide.

Mlozi was at it  again a couple of minutes later when he failed to lob the ball over Silver goalminder Blessings Kameza.

Silver gradually settled with Timothy Chitedze commanding the midfield where he combined neatly with Victor ‘Vibre’ Limbani, Young Chimodzi Jnr and Thuso Paipi.

Chitedze’s long range shots forced Bullets ‘keeper Chimwemwe Kumkwawa to stretch fully on several occasions.

Both teams continued to create chances in the second half as they fought for three points to dislodge Mafco, to no avail.

In a post-match brief, Silver coach Lovemore Fazili said: “It was a tough but very good game.  We all wanted to win but our strikers were not sharp enough”.

Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael bemoaned lost chances.

“We played with hunger, and if we had made use of our chances, in the first half, it could have been a different result,”  he said.

At Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Peter Wadabwa scored a brace to help Be Forward Wanderers beat Azam Tigers 2-0. He put the Nomads ahead in the 39th minute before sealing the victory in the 50th minute.

The goals in each half also ensured the prolific forward enhanced his golden boot chase with 15 goals, two short of leading scorer Mafco’s Richard Mbulu.

However, the win was not enough to help them improve on the log-table as they have maintained their sixth place. They have 38 points from 24 games, two points behind fifth-placed Kamuzu Barracks, who have a game in hand. n
